Marketplaces offer a wide variety of products, including specialized products such as dental fillings. Potential advantages of purchasing may include the ability to quickly deliver an order, a wide range of products and prices. However, despite this, before such a purchase, it is worth carefully studying not only the product itself, but also the potential difficulties and health risks. Alexei Soshnikov, a dental therapist, restorative dentist, head of the Maestro clinic, told Izvestia about this.

"The use of low-quality materials can also lead to serious dental problems, such as tooth loss or the need for complex treatment procedures. Therefore, the key issue is the compliance of the filling materials with quality standards. For example, it is extremely difficult to determine on your own what components these fillings are made of and whether they are safe to use. In addition, some materials may be toxic or cause allergic reactions," the expert explained.

According to him, secondly, fillings used in dentistry must undergo rigorous testing and certification, because without proper documentation, they may not meet expectations in terms of effectiveness and safety of use.

Third, it is important to realize that improper use of fillings carries certain risks, Soshnikov pointed out. Many of these products are designed for independent use, which, in turn, requires certain skills and knowledge. Without professional experience, it is possible to install a filling incorrectly, which can result in damage to the tooth, gums and infectious disease as a consequence.

"In addition, fillings purchased online are often temporary or incorrect. They may not have the necessary strength, wear resistance and durability, which in case of an unfavorable outcome will lead to the need for repeated intervention and additional costs," he explained to Izvestia.

According to the expert, it is important to take into account that the filling should properly seal the cavity of the tooth. Its improper installation can lead to the penetration of bacteria, the appearance of caries and other dental diseases.

"The aspect of having guarantees is also important. In case of problems with the filling after using a product from the marketplace, it will be quite difficult for the consumer to get support or apply for a warranty. Professional dentists provide a guarantee for their work and can offer prompt solutions in case of any complications," Soshnikov explained.

Earlier, on December 13, Victoria Radko, orthodontist, head of orthodontic direction of the scientific and clinical center EUROKAPPA clinic, told Izvestia on December 13 about what products can harm enamel and teeth. According to the expert, lemons, oranges and freshly squeezed juices have low pH, which negatively affects the enamel of teeth. Periodic consumption of these foods reduces the mineral density of enamel, leading to erosions that not only spoil the appearance of teeth, but also increase their susceptibility to damage.
