The State Duma recalled the tax benefit for pensioners

Russian pensioners are exempt from paying land tax if the area of the plot does not exceed six hectares. This was reminded by a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs Svetlana Bessarab on Thursday, December 26. The Deputy told about the right of pensioners not to pay a number of taxes.

The day before, Doctor of Law, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Professor Vadim Vinogradov said that Russian pensioners are exempt from property tax, such as housing, garages and parking spaces, according to the website kp.ru.

He specified that the pensioner has the right not to pay tax for only one of the objects from each type of property, reports 360.ru. The expert explained that the exemption applies only to plots up to 600 square meters, and if the object exceeds this area, the tax is charged on the remaining part.

"In addition to property tax, Russian pensioners are also exempt from land tax. It is the very six hundred square meters that are not taxed. If a citizen lives in his residential house built on six hectares, he may not pay land tax and property tax at all," Bessarab told Lenta.ru.

The MP also recalled that measures of support for pensioners may vary depending on the region of residence of pensioners.

"In addition, there are a number of regional and social guarantees and benefits that are provided both for persons of retirement age and for persons of pre-retirement age, especially for labor veterans. <...> What is very similar for all regions of Russia is exemption in terms of payment for utilities, it happens up to 50% of the cost, free travel in public transport, in some regions it is dental prosthetics," - concluded the parliamentarian.

Earlier, on November 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for 2025-2027, according to which the social pension will be indexed by 14.75%. After indexation, its amount will be 15,456 rubles on April 1, 2025. In addition, insurance pensions will be increased by 7.3% on January 1, 2025.
