The doctor spoke about the risks of hypertension

Arterial hypertension (AH), also known as hypertension, is a condition in which a patient has a systematic increase in blood pressure. Olga Ulankina, a doctor and expert at Gemotest Laboratory, told Izvestia on December 27 about what provokes hypertension.
"Optimal pressure is considered to be 120/80 mm Hg and below. If a person has this indicator periodically exceeds the norm, most likely, we are talking about hypertension. This condition is dangerous - it can lead to stroke, heart attack, ischemic heart disease, non-inflammatory brain damage and many other serious consequences," Ulankina explained.
According to her, in most cases, AH accompanies hypertension, which develops with age, on average from 40 years, is inherited or appears under the influence of unfavorable factors - sedentary lifestyle, overweight or obesity, excess salt in the diet, smoking and alcoholic beverage abuse, frequent emotional shocks.
"If the systolic (upper) pressure rose slightly - no more than 20 mm Hg, you can try to cope with the attack on your own: take the medicine prescribed by the doctor, rest in a cool room, measured breathing," - summarized Ulankina.
Earlier, on December 26, doctors of the medical company "SberZdorovye" - therapist Anastasia Stolnaya and pediatrician Zhanna Safonova - told "Izvestia" about what means should be included in the basic first aid kit for New Year's trips. According to them, it is important for people with cardiovascular diseases to take a tonometer with them on the trip in order to monitor their blood pressure on a daily basis.
