In the New Year's Eve edition of the SHOT PROVE project, presenters Oleg and Lyusya conducted a series of experiments to find out how safe the traditional symbols of the holiday - Christmas trees and olivier salads - are. Together with employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the presenters checked Christmas trees for fire safety, and in the studio tested weight New Year's Eve dishes from stores for taste and safety. And also summarized the results of 2024, making a rating of the most serious violations that SHOT PROVE encountered during its work.

"We often encounter situations when Christmas paraphernalia becomes the cause of household fires," explains Alexander Krasnichenko, a senior inspector of the department of the UNPR department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Moscow, who participates in the experiment to check the fire safety of Christmas trees. - Artificial Christmas trees made of cheap materials burn quickly and emit toxic smoke, while high-quality fireproof models provide precious time for evacuation".

It is worth noting that the safety of Christmas trees depends on the materials and conditions of use. When installing them at home, it is important to follow fire safety rules and not leave garlands and candles unattended.

The SHOT Check hosts also conducted their own tasting of five olivier salads from chain stores* and sent these samples for laboratory analysis.

The results were shocking: E. coli was found in all samples. The laboratory expert Elena Myasnikova explained that this was the result of violation of cooking and storage technology.

The expert noted that the thermometer on the showcase with salads should show no higher than -6 degrees, and also shared a flyhack: if the store has high traffic, salads here are unlikely to have time to stale. It is necessary to look carefully at the labeling when packing: salads have a short shelf life.

While the presenters were waiting for the results of the inspection, they made a rating of the most notorious violations of 2024, the results of which can be found in a special New Year's edition on all platforms of the project, including Telegram and VK.
