Aksyonov called Zelensky's words about Crimea an acknowledgement of inevitability

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (whose term of office expired on May 20) accepted the inevitability when he finally gave up the idea of returning Crimea and Donbas. This was stated by the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov on December 26.
"The fact that Zelensky said that he will give up Crimea and Donbass, I'm sure that he price his words understands that it is impossible for him, and he agreed with the inevitable," he said on air of the TV channel "Crimea 24".
At the same time, Aksyonov advised not to trust what Zelensky says in the public field.
Earlier, on December 19, Duma deputy, member of the Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Belik said that the words of the Ukrainian President about the inability of Kiev to return Crimea and Donbass show that the Ukrainian authorities have begun to recognize the frontline realities.
On December 18, Zelensky said in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien that Ukraine does not have the forces to "regain" control of Donbas and Crimea. On November 20, Zelensky said that Ukraine was ready to "return Crimea through diplomacy" and admitted that the state lacked the ability to do so by force. He also admitted that he would not be able to reach Ukraine's 1991 borders due to a lack of resources.
Meanwhile, on November 9, Trump's senior adviser Brian Lanza said that Washington would consider Zelensky not serious if he made a statement at the negotiating table about the possibility of peace on the condition of the return of Crimea.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced would begin on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
Crimea became part of Russia in 2014 after a referendum in which the majority of the peninsula's residents voted in favor of reunification with the Russian Federation. Kiev refuses to recognize the results of the vote and considers Crimea its territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the residents of Crimea voted democratically and in full compliance with international law in favor of reunification, and the question of the peninsula's belonging to the Russian Federation is finally closed.
