The AFU has lost almost 44,000 soldiers during the fighting in the Kursk direction.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 43,970 troops during the entire period of military operations in the Kursk direction. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 26.

"In total, the enemy has lost more than 43,970 servicemen during the fighting in the Kursk direction," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Over the day, the Ukrainian army's losses in the Kursk direction amounted to over 230 fighters, three infantry fighting vehicles and an armored personnel carrier, as well as seven vehicles, an artillery piece and two electronic warfare stations.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the performance of combat work of a Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) of Russia's North group of troops, which hit AFU drones in the border area of Kursk Region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian President on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
