Lukashenko's spokeswoman called firewood chopping his traditional form of recreation

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who often shows his masterful skills in cutting firewood, chooses this kind of physical activity as a way of unloading. This was reported by the press secretary of the Belarusian leader, Natalia Eismont, on December 26.

Lukashenko just demonstrated his skill in St. Petersburg before the second day of negotiations within the framework of the summit of heads of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries taking place there.

"Today Alexander Grigorievich again chose his traditional kind of unloading. The president simply has such a lifestyle and a way of not breaking tradition. It is not presented everywhere. We are, of course, guests [in Russia], but practically like at home - there is always help: and firewood is always at the ready, and axes at the ready," TASS quoted Eismont as saying.

She added that at home in Minsk Lukashenko chops wood almost every day, and sometimes several times a day. Such an activity, on the one hand, is an opportunity to take a break and distract from work in the office in the fresh air with the help of physical activity, on the other hand, it's a habitual thing, which allows one to be in tone all the time.

Earlier on December 26, Telegram channel "Pool One" reported that Lukashenko had chopped wood before the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg. The publication under the photos of the Belarusian leader, in which he is depicted with an axe near a snow-covered cabin, reads: "And how do you warm up before important negotiations?".

Before that, September 8, the president of Belarus also chopped wood before the CIS summit in Moscow. A photo of chopped birch wood was attached to the publication of the press service of the head of state in the Telegram-channel "Pool of the First".

In November 2022, Lukashenko attended the championship on firewood chopping among the Belarusian media and held a master class. He was assisted by Belarusian hockey player and businessman Dmitri Baskov. The president of the country showed how to chop a large thick log with an axe and a sledgehammer, and later demonstrated cutting small logs.
