Nutritionist warns against overeating on New Year's Eve

Viktor Tutelyan, chief nutritionist of the Russian Health Ministry, has named the right order of dishes on the New Year's table.
In a conversation with the website aif.ru on Thursday, December 26, the specialist said that during the New Year's feast you can eat everything you like, but in moderation, it is important to stop in time and move the plate away from yourself.
"If you are a more or less healthy person, you should not put yourself any restrictions. Instead, you should give yourself an indulgence, but do not overeat, because a sick person after the holidays can have serious consequences and disorders," said Tutelian.
He emphasized that one should not limit oneself in eating before the feast, because it is fraught with overeating. One should eat moderately before the New Year.
It is not so much the sequence of dishes that is important, but the possibilities and desires. You should start with an appetizer, then move on to something more substantial. Then you can eat fruits, vegetables and sweets.
Tutelian emphasized that you should not abuse alcoholic beverages, as the holiday can turn into trouble.
Also on December 26, nutritionist Elena Ustinova told "Gazeta.Ru" that overeating is the main mistake in the New Year, worsening the hangover syndrome in the morning. She explained that the consumption of large amounts of fats, carbohydrates and salt also gives an additional load on the liver, which aggravates intoxication, writes Life.ru.
On the same day Pravda.Ru wrote that the festive feast is best completed with a walk in the fresh air. This will improve digestion, speed up metabolism and help restore strength.
December 25, gastroenterologist Lyudmila Sukhorukova said that portions of salads with mayonnaise should be limited to 100 g, if you plan to try different dishes. If there are no other mayonnaise snacks on the table, it is acceptable to increase the portion to 150 g, reports 360.ru. The expert also urged not to combine Olivier and "herring under a fur coat" with potatoes, fatty meat and sweet drinks, writes kp.ru.
December 23, nutrition expert Ksenia Zabaturina warned that during the holidays with an abundance of dishes and low activity there is a risk of overeating. According to her, one should avoid fasting before the holiday, as well as replace fatty ingredients in dishes with lighter alternatives, such as classic mayonnaise with Greek yogurt or sour cream, RT reports.
On December 16, nutritionist Elena Lepekhina told how to make New Year salads useful. According to her, it is worth giving up sausage and mayonnaise in their preparation, replacing with chicken, turkey, butter, writes NSN.
In November, a psychiatrist, narcologist Candidate of Medical Sciences Ruslan Isaev advised to start the New Year's feast with meat and fish dishes. According to him, such a holiday is traditionally not without champagne and other alcoholic beverages, and these products will help reduce their negative impact on the body.
