FSB: the driver of the Russian military officer was in collusion with the organizers of the assassination attempt

The attempted assassination of one of the heads of the Russian Defense Ministry, which the Federal Security Service (FSB) officers managed to prevent, was planned to be carried out with the help of his driver, the father-in-law of a Ukrainian agent, who was in collusion with the criminals. This was reported by the FSB of Russia on December 26.

The agent was to get close to the officer through his father-in-law, the driver of the Defense Ministry. The Ukrainian special services planned to blow up the car of the military officer remotely from the territory of Ukraine.

"The coordination of the preparation of the terrorist act, in addition to supervisors from the special services was also carried out through the recruited wife of the arriving agent, living in the city of Mirgorod, Poltava region of Ukraine," - stated on the website of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the high-ranking military officer Ukrainian special services planned to blow up in the official car with a bomb disguised as a power bank, adds "Gazeta.Ru".

After committing a terrorist act, representatives of the special services of Ukraine planned to ensure their agent's departure to the territory of the country, and then - in one of the European Union (EU) states.

Earlier in the day the FSB thwarted terrorist attacks by the intelligence services of Ukraine against high-ranking Russian military officers and their families. Four Russian citizens were detained during the search operation. During searches, law enforcers found IEDs and means of communication with the defendants. Special services of Ukraine delivered components for explosive devices to Russia in tools, car parts and household appliances. Criminal proceedings were initiated on this fact.

After the FSB published an audio recording of the instruction of the Ukrainian agent, who was preparing an assassination attempt on a Russian serviceman, by his wife. In it, the woman said that the Ukrainian agent would need to "go out and do what he is supposed to do." She noted that he would be paid for his actions.
