Emergencies Ministry head rules out problems with the holiday season in Kuban due to fuel oil spillage

The problem of pollution of the Black Sea coast with fuel oil in the Krasnodar region after the tanker crash can be solved in the near future, the beach season is not in question. This was reported to journalists by the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Kurenkov on December 26.

"The beach season is not under question. We will sort it out. There is no solid pollution. We will cope in the near future," he said.

According to him, the work to eliminate the fuel oil spill continues. He specified that the consequences of the tanker crash will also be eliminated in the sea to prevent emissions on the beaches.

Kurenkov arrived in Anapa to monitor the progress of liquidation of the fuel oil spill earlier in the day. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said that since the beginning of the work in Krasnodar region collected and removed more than 23.5 thousand tons of contaminated soil. More than 4.3 thousand people and 400 units of equipment were involved in the work.

The Governor of the Krasnodar Region Veniamin Kondratiev asked the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for federal assistance to clean up the oil spill on the region's coasts.

According to experts' forecasts, most of the fuel oil should have remained at the bottom of the Black Sea, but due to unfavorable weather conditions it rises to the surface and ends up on the beach.
