The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has detained the Minister of Security and the head of the Interior Ministry Nenad Nesic and several other officials on suspicion of involvement in corruption schemes. This was reported by Reuters on December 26.

Milan Dakic, director of the road state enterprise Putevi RS, was also detained.

"They are suspected of having, as directors of Putevi RS and persons cooperating with this enterprise, entered into a criminal conspiracy for the sake of committing a crime and abuse of office or authority," the report said.

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik indicated that the action against the Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office against Nesic is unacceptable.

In his opinion, this approach represents the persecution of cadres from Republika Srpska in order to destabilize it. The BiH Prosecutor's Office demonstrates that it has become a tool of certain foreign embassies and the Sarajevo political community to massacre Republika Srpska, he believes.

Dodik added that the proceedings in the case should be conducted in accordance with the law and not be a "media spectacle" for the public.

Nesic has previously represented the Serbian people in the BiH leadership, and has repeatedly engaged in open polemics with the authorities in Sarajevo.

Earlier, on December 6, the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security detained the head of the tax service, Altynbek Abduvapov, and his deputy, Islambek Kydyrgychov, on suspicion of involvement in corruption schemes.
