Accent pieces and accessories can turn an everyday look into a festive one in a matter of seconds, Polina Fedotova, senior fashion editor at Lamoda, told Izvestia on December 27. According to her, unlike an evening dress, they will not hang in the closet until next year, because there are many more options for stylization. The expert gave some advice to Russians on preparing a New Year's outfit.
First of all, she singled out an empire top among the accent pieces. Fedotova explained that a spectacular top is one of the easiest ways to transform the basic image. It can be a version with a corset or decorated with feathers, bows or lace and referring to this season's trendy boudoir aesthetics. The main thing is not to allow hypernarrative, so it is worth making it an accent piece in the set. And "calm" such a top can be classic pants or loose jeans, said the expert.
She also reminded about massive accessories.
"Remember the shows Schiaparelli, Jil Sander, Loewe - and instantly add large jewelry to the basket. The rules of combination and moderation are temporarily canceled: the bigger the earrings, necklaces and rings, the better. Put on not one thing, but all together, but with one correction: the "background" on which you layer jewelry, should be calm. A knitted suit, a gray cashmere sweater or a simple white T-shirt will do," said Lamoda's senior fashion editor.
In addition, in her opinion, an important element can be long opera gloves, which in the fall-winter season have become almost the main styling tool. Such an accessory was presented on the catwalks of Miu Miu, Givenchy, Carven, Blumarine and many other brands. And the models wore them not only with evening dresses in the style of Audrey Hepburn, but also with knitwear, outerwear, jeans and pantsuits.
"[Another accent piece is] the see-through skirt. Perhaps the most fashionable and 'viral' piece this year - thanks to trendsetting brands like Prada, Miu Miu and Carven. It looks great in simple sets paired with pants and jeans, but on New Year's Eve you can afford something extraordinary. For example, try on a transparent skirt with bright tights and a long jacket," Fedotova advised.

You can, for example, tie a big bow, add a naive necklace or try on a jacket with a scattering of cute details. "Feathers are a New Year's Eve classic. However, you don't have to dress up in a long dress in the style of 'The Great Gatsby'. It's much easier to add a feather necklace, sandals, a boa or a fluffy bag - there's a touch of irony in these details, but the feeling of festivity is instantaneous. One more cool flyhack is to sew feathers to the cuffs of your favorite pajamas or cardigan. We recommend wearing it not only on December 31st, but also walking around at brunches with your girlfriends all year round," Fedotova added.
