The average life expectancy of Muscovites has increased from 74 to 79 years, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told "Evening Moscow". According to the capital's mayor, these figures can be compared with the life expectancy in the world's leading megacities.

"As a result of a large systematic work we have managed to tangibly increase the comfort of medical care. And most importantly - to reduce the mortality rate of Muscovites from the most common oncological, cardiovascular and other socially significant diseases", - said the mayor of the capital.

In addition, the mayor of the capital noted that in 2023 Moscow transferred 4.8 trillion rubles to the federal budget and budgets of extra-budgetary funds. The Moscow economy makes up one fifth of the Russian economy, and according to the World Bank, it occupies the second position among the world's urban economies. These figures were cited by the capital's mayor as part of the annual report on the activities of the Moscow government to the City Duma.
