Nutriciologist Lyubov Gorelova told how to avoid hangovers when drinking alcohol during New Year holidays.

In a conversation with RuNews24.Ru on Thursday, December 26, the expert noted that the right choice of drinks plays an important role. She urged to give preference to trusted brands and avoid cheap alcohol or exotic cocktails.

Also, according to the doctor, one should not forget about snacks. It is important to have a snack before drinking alcohol and during the feast.

"Protein and fats such as cheese, nuts or meat snacks will help slow down the absorption of alcohol," Gorelova advised.

According to her, you should also drink water. One glass of water for every glass of alcohol can help prevent dehydration, which is one of the causes of hangovers.

The nutritionist also urged to set yourself a limit on alcohol consumption and take breaks: this will reduce the total amount drunk and help to maintain sobriety.

If the hangover could not be avoided, the doctor advised, first of all, to restore the water balance: first drink water, and then go to drinks with electrolytes. In addition, will help the body recover vitamins B and vitamin C. You can take them in the form of supplements or eat foods rich in them.

A light and nutritious breakfast, such as an omelet with vegetables or oatmeal with fruit, will also help improve the condition. In addition, the best cure for a hangover is rest and sleep.

Earlier on December 26, specialist in the toxicology of alcoholic beverages, Dr. Vladimir Nuzhny in a conversation with aif.ru called cucumber and cabbage brines one of the best remedies for hangovers. He explained that these brines are well balanced potassium and sodium salts. In addition, the brine contains other minerals, vitamins and organic acids (lactic, acetic, butyric, formic, succinic, etc.), which have a beneficial effect on hangovers.

December 25 Pravda.Ru with reference to the study of scientists from the University of California wrote that the choice of light red wine as a drink will help to avoid unpleasant consequences of a feast like a hangover. Thus, grapes for light red wine are often grown on vines with a large number of leaves, which protect the berries from sunlight, preventing the active formation of quercetin. Once in the bloodstream with alcohol, quercetin is converted into a compound that slows the breakdown of alcohol metabolic products, making you feel worse and increasing your hangover.

On the same day, a nutritionist, Dr. Mariyat Mukhina in a conversation with NSN told about the products that help protect against hangovers. According to her, these are citrus fruits, turmeric, garlic, cabbage and green tea. Herbal cocktails and smoothies, as well as meat or vegetable broths will replenish water and salt balance. In addition, cheese or other foods before drinking alcohol can help reduce the risk of hangover syndrome, specifies Life.ru.

In October, Dr. Vladimir Neronov told "Izvestia" that soup also helps with a hangover. At the same time, he pointed out that mineral water, brine, tea or compote will help replenish the loss of fluid and electrolytes.

Earlier, narcologist Daniil Petrov warned that taking alcohol when hungover will lead to constipation. According to him, the hangover will pass when the remains of ethanol in the form of acetaldehyde and acetic acid leave the body, writes RT.

In December last year, psychiatrist-narcologist Alexander Polikarpov said that in case of a severe hangover, specialized help is needed. If there is vomiting, rapid heartbeat, severe weakness, fainting, it is important to call a doctor at home, the website kp.ru reports.
