The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has established itself as one of the self-sufficient and independent centers of the world. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 26 during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the Igora resort in the Leningrad region.

"Our association has established itself as one of the independent and self-sufficient centers of the emerging multipolar world and continues to develop dynamically," Putin said.

The head of state pointed out that the EAEU activities help expand trade and deepen cooperation ties, build up business contacts and investment exchanges. The President pointed out that all member states benefit from the work in the association, and the union contributes to stable and sustainable economic growth of its member states and the entire Eurasian region as a whole. The EAEU helps improve the quality of life and welfare of citizens.

Putin emphasized that Russia highly appreciates its mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation with the countries of the Union and is interested in intensifying the common work to comprehensively strengthen this integration association.

Earlier, on December 17, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin named the main areas of work of the EAEU. They include providing the common market of the union with basic goods and resources; strengthening the external relations of the member states; formation of a common space of cooperation in technological development; formation of a common market of the states; support for their transport interconnectivity.

Before that, October 1, Mishustin said that the Union State is the locomotive of integration within the EAEU, as Moscow and Minsk are working on the proposals of the association to strengthen the free promotion of goods, services and labor in a joint format.

The EAEU is an international organization of regional economic integration with international legal personality. It includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. One of the main advantages of the organization is a common labor market.
