Moscow public transport will be free on New Year's Eve


On New Year's Eve, travel on public transport in Moscow will be free of charge. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin on December 26.
He specified that the privileges will be valid from 20:00 on December 31 to 06:00 on January 1. On New Year's Eve passengers will be served by 140 most popular bus routes and 18 regular night flights.
"On Christmas Day, the subway and MCC will operate until 02:00, MCD - until 03:00, as well as 149 routes of ground urban transport - until 03:30," Sobyanin wrote in his Telegram channel.
As for parking in Moscow during the holiday period, the mayor said that from December 30 to January 8 it will be possible to leave cars for free. However, these benefits will not apply to parking lots with a barrier, emphasized Sobyanin.
Earlier, on December 24, it became known that the stations and train cars of the Moscow Metro were decorated in anticipation of New Year holidays. At the moment festive lights are installed on the facades of the lobbies of eight stations: "Chistye Prudy", "Ploshchad Revolyutsii", "Baumanskaya", "Arbatskaya", "Taganskaya", "Rizhskaya", "Kozhukhovskaya" and "Kutuzovskaya". This year the facade of Krasnopresnenskaya station was also decorated for the first time, and a festive arch appeared at Krasniye Vorota.
