Russian Embassy in Mozambique urged Russians to refrain from traveling to the country

The Russian Embassy in Mozambique recommended Russians to refrain from traveling to the country due to the difficult socio-political situation. This was reported by the press service of the diplomatic mission on December 25.

"Due to the complex socio-political situation in the country, Russian citizens planning to visit Mozambique during the New Year and Christmas holidays are strongly advised to cancel or postpone the trip until the situation normalizes," - stated in a message in the Telegram-channel of the Embassy.

It is noted that the residents of the Russian Federation in the territory of the East African country are advised not to leave their homes without increased necessity.

Earlier, on December 26, it was reported that at least 1,534 prisoners escaped from the central high-security prison in Maputo, resulting in the deaths of 33 people. It was specified that the escape occurred during the riots after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections. It was noted that it was planned, the responsibility for the incident is attributed to the protesters after the election.
