Passenger car production in Russia increased by almost 40%


In the first 11 months of 2024, 679,000 passenger cars were produced in Russia, which is 39.3% higher than in the same period last year, according to Rosstat data.
At the end of November, 80.4 thousand cars rolled off the assembly lines in Russia, which is 25.1% more than a year ago. However, in relation to October, the indicator decreased by 11.8%.
The output of trucks in January-November amounted to 178 thousand units, which is 9.8% more than in the first 11 months of last year. In the last month of the fall, 17.4 thousand trucks were produced, which is 2.9% lower than the result of November 2023.
Production of buses weighing more than 5 tons in January-November amounted to 13.7 thousand units (+12.1%), and those weighing less than 5 tons - 18.5 thousand units (-12.3%). Also, 207 thousand internal combustion engines for cars (+12.6%) were produced in the country for 11 months.
On the eve of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov noted that the next year should be more productive for the Russian car industry than 2024, but the market is waiting for difficulties. By the end of 2024, the domestic car industry will overcome the bar of 950 thousand units, which is 13% higher than the expectations laid down in the strategy for the development of the industry, and 31% more than in 2023, said Alikhanov.
On December 23, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said that in the Russian car industry can be left no more than two or three large car plants, which will be distinguished by competitiveness, profitability and high localization.
