The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the number of visas issued to Americans has increased

The number of visas issued by Russia to Americans in 2024 has increased by more than 30%. This was announced by the director of the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexei Klimov, on December 26.

He specified that for the first 11 months of this year, US citizens received 7.7 thousand visas. In turn, 5.6 thousand documents were issued in 2023.

"Any restrictions on the issuance of visas to American citizens who are not included in the list of persons whose entry to Russia is prohibited, has not been introduced so far," - quotes Klimov "RIA Novosti".

Earlier, on December 7, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to expand the list of countries whose citizens can issue a single electronic visa to enter Russia. Barbados, Bhutan, Zimbabwe, Jordan, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, St. Lucia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkmenistan, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini were added to the list. It is also specified that Serbia and Andorra, with which bilateral agreements on mutual visa-free travel have been concluded, are excluded from the order.

In early August this year it was reported that for the year electronic visas to Russia issued 540.9 thousand foreign citizens. It is noted that Chinese citizens received 254 thousand visas, in second place were tourists from Saudi Arabia, they received 43.4 thousand e-visas. Germany closed the top three, its citizens have issued 42.6 thousand visas. Turkey and Estonia are next - 32.8 thousand and 28.6 thousand e-visas. Next are India, Latvia, Iran, Kuwait and Lithuania.
