In Donbas and Novorossiya, 3.7 thousand infrastructure facilities have been restored. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin on December 26.

"Work on the restoration of infrastructure in the territories of the new regions continues. <...> Overhaul of more than 1.7 thousand kilometers of roads is being completed," he said at a meeting of the government commission on regional development.

Khusnullin specified that over 3 thousand objects in the new regions of the Russian Federation were restored with the support of sponsor regions. In addition, he emphasized that during the implementation of the infrastructure project repaired 21 thousand buildings.

Earlier, on December 20, the head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin said that there are about 27 region-spheriffs working in the DNR, who are restoring infrastructure, residential buildings, as well as social facilities of the republic. According to him, by the end of November alone, almost 700 multi-storey houses had been repaired and about 130 kilometers of roads in settlements had been restored.

In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the restoration of social facilities in the DNR, LNR, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions should be given top priority, even though there are "still enough security problems" there. According to him, it is important to train law enforcers for Donbas and Novorossiya, as the residents of the four new entities should feel safe.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
