The State Duma has introduced a bill that would specify the rules of admission to universities for applicants with secondary vocational education. Details of the project told the first Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Alexander Mazhuga.

"So, if the program of study at the university corresponds to the program (profile) of study at a college or technical school, then the entrant passes the entrance tests as it was before," he wrote on December 24 in his Telegram channel.

As an example, he cited students from a medical college who graduated from the "Nursing" program. In such a case, the applicant can enter the "Medical Business" program at the university. However, if the applicant has graduated from "Accounting" and enters "Medicine", then it is necessary to provide the results of the USE at the time of admission.

"This draft law was developed together with the expert community. If adopted, it will be valid in the admission campaign of 2026", - he concluded.

Earlier, on December 5, it became known that the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation approved a new procedure for admission to universities. The corresponding document was published on the website of the official publication of legal acts. The order comes into force on March 1, 2025 and is valid until September 1, 2029.

On October 16, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov said that admission to pedagogical specialties will be through a unified state examination in a specialized subject from 2026. The minister also noted that no significant changes in the system of admission to higher education institutions are planned in 2025.
