The Russian Emergencies Ministry's IL-76 has departed from the Kazakh city of Aktau with Russian citizens on board who suffered in the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny. The Russian Emergencies Ministry said on December 26.
"The IL-76 airplane flew from Aktau to Moscow. On board are the victims of the crash of a passenger airliner: nine people, including one child," the Ministry said in its Telegram channel.
The ministry recalled that the flight was carried out on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Kurenkov. The flight was organized in cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry.
In addition, in Chechnya, EMERCOM psychologists are helping relatives of the passengers of the fallen plane.
On December 25, a passenger plane of AZAL airline, which was on the Baku-Grozny route, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau. After the crash the plane caught fire. Preliminary, the cause of the fall of the airplane could be a collision with a flock of birds. After the crash, a criminal case was initiated.
On board, according to the list of AZAL, there were 62 passengers and five crew members. According to the latest data, seven Russians were killed, nine survived and hospitalized. Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, in turn, came to the victims of the plane crash. He said that 38 people died in the airplane crash.
At the site of the tragedy, search and rescue operations continue. AZAL has suspended flights from Baku to Grozny and Makhachkala until the investigation is completed.
