In the west of Canada, at least 6.5 thousand households were left without light due to hurricane winds that hit the province of British Columbia. This was reported by The Star on Wednesday, December 25.

According to the National Meteobureau of Canada, the speed of wind gusts now in some places reaches 39 meters per second. Due to bad weather, which is accompanied by heavy rains, the ferry service was also disrupted.

The ferry company said all services between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay in Nanaimo have been canceled due to the "severe weather forecast," and services between Whaletown and Heriot Bay have also been canceled.

BC Hydro said about 5,000 customers were without power as of Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, on November 29, the oil tanker Kadriye Ana under the flag of Turkey due to a powerful storm ran aground off the coast of Istanbul. The vessel was in danger of wrecking, so the crew of 12 people was evacuated. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
