NASA has revealed a "Christmas tree" in space
Representatives of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) have shared an image of the cosmic "Christmas Tree", which is a cluster of young stars dubbed NGC 2264.
This image combines data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and optical data from astrophotographer Michael Clow's telescope in Arizona.
"The Chandra data are in red, violet, blue, and white, and the optical data are in green and purple," the researchers said.
The NGC 2264 cluster is about 2,500 light-years from Earth. The published photo was taken on December 17, 2024. Scientists explained that in the image of the stars are presented in the form of blue and white lights, which are surrounded by gas, acting as "spruce needles".
Earlier on December 25, NASA denied an ISS-related conspiracy theory involving astronauts stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) who were photographed wearing Santa Claus hats next to a tiny Christmas tree. Social media users thought that the presence of Christmas decorations was a "sign of conspiracy" and that the astronauts were not really stuck in space, while others claimed that they were on a movie set.
