The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case over the terrorist attack in the town of Lgov, Kursk region

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case on the fact of a terrorist attack in the town of Lgov, Kursk region. This was reported by the press service in the Telegram-channel of the agency on December 26.

It is specified that militants of armed formations of Ukraine (AFU) launched a missile attack on the peaceful population of Lgov. As a result of the attack there are dead and wounded, also significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

"A criminal case has been opened against the militants of the VFU, who committed a terrorist act against the peaceful population of the city of Lgov, Kursk region (item "b" part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation)", - informed in the IC.

On the eve of the deputy governor of Kursk region Alexander Khinshtein reported that the AFU shelled civilian objects and infrastructure of Lgov. Operational services began work at the site of the attack.

Later, Khinshtein reported four dead in the strike on L'gov. Five more people were hospitalized, with one of the women in serious condition. The deputy governor added that the Kursk region government's operative staff had been deployed in the city.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory are being liquidated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian President on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
