In the fourth quarter of 2024, the number of failures in IT systems of Russian organizations increased by 32% compared to the same period last year, analysts of Monk Digital Lab reported to Izvestia. They noted that the indicator of the last quarter of the year exceeds the level of previous quarters in terms of the growth of failures.

The situation, in particular, is connected with the withdrawal of foreign vendors from the Russian market, which were the main suppliers of equipment and software products. Because of this, Russian companies were deprived of technical support and regular updates. The geopolitical factor and an increase in the number of cyberattacks on the IT infrastructure of companies and services also have an impact. In addition, the number of failures caused by the use of raw solutions and self-written software has increased.

"Due to the need to implement new solutions in a short period of time, there was an insufficient level of testing and verification of integration with existing systems, especially it was often observed in the financial sector," the company pointed out.

In Q4, the retail (26% of total failures), financial (18%) and logistics (14%) sectors experienced the most disruptions. Retailers experienced more disruptions due to the use of outdated hardware and software during the busy period of the popular Black Friday sale, as well as in preparation for the New Year. Financial organizations - due to the use of legacy solutions at a time of increased consumer activity during Black Friday and active preparation of users for the New Year, when the volume of financial transactions has increased significantly.
