In 2025, sappers will demine the airport in Donetsk. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) Denis Pushilin on December 25.

"In 2025, we start demining and surveying the airport and other preparatory work for the construction of the air harbor of the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Pushilin also reported about the inspection of the Oktyabrsky settlement of Donetsk and the airport together with Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

Earlier, on December 24, the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, said that pyrotechnic detachments of the Russian Emergencies Ministry had surveyed over 300 hectares of terrain on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in the first eight months of 2024, where they found and defused about 5,000 munitions.

In early July, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the department's pyrotechnicians had defused almost 44,000 explosive objects in the country over six months. Every day employees of pyrotechnic engineering units survey areas where unexploded ordnance may be located.
