Some people prefer to spend New Year's holidays at a recreation center or dacha, but in such locations it is not always possible to promptly receive medical assistance. Doctors from the SberHealth medical company - therapist Anastasia Stolnaya and pediatrician Zhanna Safonova - told Izvestia on December 26 what items should be included in a basic first aid kit for such trips.

According to them, in case of fever or painful sensations, for example, after a bruise, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be at hand. For adults, such drugs are suitable in the form of tablets, and for children - in the form of syrup or suppositories.

To eliminate nasal congestion in the medicine cabinet should put vasoconstrictor drops - both children's and adult, for example, based on xylometazoline. At the same time, they can be used for no more than five days. In addition, according to experts, it is worth taking with you and physiological solution of sodium chloride 0.9%, because it can also relieve manifestations of congestion. In case of a runny nose in children under three years of age, it is worth adding a nasal aspirator to the first aid kit to help the child clear the nasal passages of mucus.

The therapist and pediatrician noted that to provide first aid to yourself or a child in case of food poisoning at hand it is necessary to have a sorbent based on diosmectite, as it helps to remove toxins from the body. Also, as a rule, in food poisoning, the body loses fluid through vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration and acidosis - a violation of acid-base balance. To reduce the risk of these complications, the first aid kit should contain a preparation in the form of a powder to prepare an electrolyte glucose-salt solution.

Experts added that adults with nausea can consider using an antiemetic drug with the active ingredient metoclopramide, and in case of abdominal cramps - a drug containing mebeverine. At the same time, in children, the presence of such symptoms requires a face-to-face examination by a pediatrician.

Doctors explained that in the appearance of constipation, both in an adult and a child, glycerin suppositories or microclysters based on lactulose may be required.

At the same time, in case of an allergic reaction to food, such as tangerines or chocolate, second-generation antihistamines containing cetirizine or desloratadine should be on hand, they specified.

In case of injuries or cuts, experts recommended having a set of dressing materials: bactericidal plasters of various sizes, sterile bandages, gauze wipes, absorbent cotton and cotton swabs. According to them, in the first aid kit should also be put: water-based antiseptics - to treat wounds, hemostatic sponge - to stop bleeding, hypothermic bag or "dry ice", which will help cool tissues in case of bruises and thermal burns and burn gel with antiseptic and anesthetic based on dexpanthenol.

In addition, doctors advised to carry an antibacterial ointment based on fusidic acid and such a component as sulfathiazole silver salt to protect the wound from the development of inflammation, if necessary. In addition, it is important not to forget to take medications for people with chronic diseases, previously prescribed by the attending physician.

"In addition to medicines and dressings, in the first aid kit it is worth putting a thermometer of any type, as well as express tests: streptatest, flu test, and for children additionally for rotavirus infection. These tests help to detect the presence or absence of infection. Their results will be useful information for remote consultation with a doctor. Also, in case of a sore throat or earache, a special gadget - a camera for remote examination of the patient by a doctor - may be useful," the doctors recommended.

They also explained that it is important for people with cardiovascular diseases to take a tonometer with them on a trip to monitor their blood pressure on a daily basis.

Earlier, on December 22, Tatyana Meshcheriakova, a nutritionist and expert in the field of healthy eating at Level Kitchen service, told Izvestia that it is better to choose light vegetable salads both from raw and heat-treated products, with accents on different vegetables for the New Year's feast. Speaking of hot dishes, she specified that everything that can be steamed or baked is welcome. At the same time, fried and smoked versions are best excluded, as they are more caloric and contain a lot of excessive E additives.
