Pamfilova called for a boycott of firecrackers for safety reasons


Ukrainian special services are supplying Russia with pyrotechnics equipped with explosives to harm civilians, the head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Ella Pamfilova, has said at a meeting on 25 December. "Here it is our civic responsibility to ban [the sale of firecrackers] everywhere at all. Let's declare a nationwide boycott: don't buy them," she said.
Pamfilova urged Russians not to buy or use them, and advised citizens to spread information about the dangers of pyrotechnics among friends and relatives. The CEC head asked her colleagues to warn about the harm of firecrackers in social networks.
She also noted that the explosion of firecrackers is an "environmental burden". According to her, it causes severe stress to birds and animals.
Earlier, on December 24, lawyers said that violation of bans on the use of pyrotechnics can face fines not only for buyers, but also for sellers. In case of illegal sales, they can receive fines of up to Br40 thousand.
On the same day in the analytical center "Chek Index" of the company "Platform OFD" said that sales of fireworks increased in December by 11% year-on-year. The most popular are salutes and fireworks for 10-20 volleys, as well as firecrackers in a box of 10-20 pieces and firecrackers in boxes of 40-60 pieces.
