A doctor has given advice on choosing a safe perfume for your health

Nowadays, when high-tech production of unique perfumes is developing, there are fakes or extremely inexpensive fragrances with similar smells, which may include components that are dangerous to health. Cosmetologist-dermatologist Natalia Zhovtan told Izvestia on December 26 about how to choose a safe perfume for health.
"It is not uncommon to find methanol among the ingredients of perfumes. Its content leads to fatigue, irritation of the eyes and upper respiratory tract, loss of muscle coordination," Zhovtan explained.
According to her, the components in fake perfumes are capable of transforming into formalin - a harmful substance that can lead to liver cancer, as well as cause nausea, dizziness and migraines.
Typically, perfume is applied to the wrist and neck, sensitive skin areas. With sensitive skin, harsh chemicals penetrate quickly and can cause allergic reactions. Numerous studies have confirmed that 1-1.5 minutes after application, harmful substances can be detected in the human bloodstream.
"Any perfumed fragrances are already allergens and can cause significant harm to people with respiratory diseases. Also, dyes and preservatives can be allergens," - summarized Zhovtan.
Earlier, December 16, Associate Professor of the Department of General Biology and Bioecology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the State University of Education Roman Oparin told "Izvestia" about the possibility of poisoning by perfume. According to him, if ingested, perfume can cause toxic poisoning, affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidneys and central nervous system.
