Doctor-immunologist and TV host Andrei Prodeus told on Wednesday, December 25, about the most dangerous foods and drinks on the New Year's table.

"Of course, the most dangerous on the table on New Year's Eve is alcohol. It is clear that it does not spoil in terms of biological spoilage, but it spoils our body," he said in conversation with Lenta.Ru.

The most dangerous products are salads dressed with mayonnaise and sour cream, which remain in the air, as well as pastries and cakes that have a cream base.

"It's what's perishable and what's perishable. Those are the two types of foods that I would put at the top of the list in terms of danger in terms of going bad," Prodeus elaborated.

According to the doctor, the second place is shared by meat, chicken, fish and caviar, which have been on the New Year's table for a long time. These kinds of products are a favorable environment for the growth of microorganisms.

"The third is salads that are not dressed with sauces, that is, just greens and vegetables. Let's say you washed them, for example, but they stood for a day or two. You're not going to rewash them, especially if they're sliced. Therefore, they can be a substrate for bacterial growth," concluded the specialist.

Earlier in the day, gastroenterologist Lyudmila Sukhorukova recommended limiting the portions of salads with mayonnaise to 100 g, if you plan to try different dishes. If there are no other mayonnaise snacks on the table, it is acceptable to increase the portion to 150 g, reports 360.ru.

In turn, the chief doctor of the Samara Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention Alexander Muravets said that before the feast one should not starve, and it is better to replace mayonnaise in salads with olive oil, RT reports.

Konstantin Usov, associate professor of the Department of Therapeutics at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, pharmacologist, told Izvestia that it is better to use homemade mayonnaise instead of store-bought mayonnaise. It can also be mixed in half with sour cream. In addition, Usov said that unsweetened Greek yogurt combined with pesto sauce is an excellent alternative to classic dressing.
