Train traffic has been completely stopped in Norway due to a malfunction in the communication system between drivers and dispatchers, the VG newspaper reported on December 25.

The newspaper noted that the agency Bane NOR, responsible for maintenance of the rail network, has formed a crisis headquarters to eliminate the problem, but when the traffic will be restored, it is not known.

It is clarified that Norwegians can use other means of transportation, including cabs, and receive compensation for this, but it is only paid to those who bought a ticket before the rail service stopped.

"It's sad because I can't get anywhere. I thought I would take a cab, but it costs 4 thousand kroner ($354. - Ed.), and I don't have 4 thousand kroner right now. So I'm not going anywhere," Anne Simones, who has a four-year-old dog Melvin waiting at home, told the newspaper.

If the train shutdown lasts all day, hotel rooms will be provided to those in need, VG emphasized.

Earlier, on October 24, one person died after a train derailed in Norwegian Nurlan. It was noted that there were about 60 people on the train. In total, more than 90 tickets were bought out.
