- Expert explained the refusal of ready-to-eat food services from free delivery in Russia

Ready-to-eat food services refuse free delivery due to the high cost of food and other expenses. Eduard Baboyan, the financial director of the Dostaevsky service, told Izvestia on December 26.
"We realize that rising prices have an impact on our customers. Until now, we have sought to minimize this impact by optimizing our internal processes and effectively managing costs. Such results can be achieved by optimization and automation, thanks to which routine tasks are performed by machines rather than humans. However, objective market factors made the introduction of paid delivery inevitable," he explained to Izvestia.
Also in the service reported a significant rise in prices in 2024 on the ingredients of Japanese cuisine. So cottage cheese increased in price by 34%, avocado by 17%, mussels by 26%, salmon by 16%, and masago caviar by 14%.
"Cooking a regular Philly is getting 35% more expensive on average. What's interesting is that for the period January - December 2024, shrimp did not undergo an increase in price," noted there.
Earlier, such services as "Yandex Food", "Kitchen on the neighborhood", "Sbermarket" and others refused from free delivery.
Before that, on December 13, analysts of the service Dostaevsky predicted a decrease in purchasing power in 2025. In their opinion, in this connection, the popularity of "at home" formats is expected to grow - bakeries, small cafes offering affordable prices and fast service.
