German citizen Erich Bittermann, who has been protecting the residents of Donbass since 2014, has received a Russian passport. This was reported on December 25 by the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk in Telegram-channel.

"Since 2014, Erich Bittermann has taken part in combat operations to protect the population of the DNR and LNR from Ukrainian Nazis. My colleagues from the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Donetsk People's Republic handed him a Russian passport," Volk wrote.

According to her, after the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) became part of Russia, Erich Bittermann decided to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and it was this that allowed him to apply for citizenship in a simplified procedure.

Volk added that Bittermann plans to help restore peaceful life in Donbass after the end of the Special Military Operation (SMO).

Earlier, on December 24, FSB and Interior Ministry officials stripped a Donetsk resident of his Russian citizenship for attempting to establish contact with Ukrainian security services. It is specified that the Russian citizen Ignatenko A.I. showed initiative in social networks to establish contact with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine to assist in the fulfillment of tasks aimed at damaging the security of Russia.
