About half of Russians believe in replacing couriers with robots

More than 70% of respondents regularly use the services of couriers, and the profession is perceived as important and necessary for modern society. At the same time, respondents note the high requirements for couriers and differ in their opinions about the future of this profession. Thus, 46% believe that human labor in this field will be replaced by robots, drones and autopilots. This is stated in the research of Ozon marketplace, the results of which "Izvestia" got acquainted with on December 26.

The survey showed that courier delivery is an integral part of everyday life of Russians. More than half of respondents (62%) order delivery at least once a month, and 21% use the service several times a week or more often.

Among the key qualities that respondents value in couriers, politeness (73%), punctuality (69%) and neatness (65%) were the leading ones. Also important for Russians were the ability to navigate in the city (49%) and physical endurance (50%).

The vast majority of respondents (81%) said that they interact with couriers politely and on business. Less than 8% of respondents admitted that they may not hold back emotions in case of problems with an order, but almost a third said that such situations had not occurred in their memory.

At the same time, opinions about the future of the courier profession were divided. Part of respondents (46%) thought that human labor in this field will be replaced by robots, drones and autopilots. However, 38% suggested that there will be more couriers as the demand for online delivery will only grow. A quarter of respondents said that the skills of couriers will improve significantly and the profession will become more technologically advanced.

Earlier, on December 23, "Izvestia" got acquainted with the study of international logistics operator SDEK, according to which 45% of Russians dream of congratulating a courier in a Santa Claus suit. At the same time, 18% would prefer to receive an order on a sleigh pulled by horses or reindeer, and 15% dream of a parcel delivered by a smart owl.
