The AFU lost more than 230 servicemen in the Kursk border area over the day


The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the Kursk border area amounted to over 230 servicemen over the day. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 25.
"The strikes of operational-tactical, army aviation and artillery fire hit the enemy's manpower and equipment in the areas of Kositsa, Kruglenkoe, Kurilovka, Loknya, Makhnovka, Cherkasskoe Porechnoye, as well as Basovka, Belovody, Vladimirovka, Vodolagi and Zhuravka in the Sumy region. During the day the losses of the AFU amounted to more than 230 servicemen, two tanks, two armored combat vehicles and three vehicles were destroyed," the defense ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that in total during the fighting in the Kursk direction the enemy lost more than 43,740 servicemen, 255 tanks, 194 BMPs, 136 armored personnel carriers, 1,318 armored combat vehicles, 42 MLRS launchers, 13 SAM launchers, 80 REB stations and 13 counter-battery radars.
"The operation to destroy AFU formations continues," the Defense Ministry concluded.
Earlier in the day, Grad multiple rocket launcher systems (MLRS) of the Army Corps of the "North" group of forces destroyed platoon strongholds and an accumulation of AFU personnel in the Kursk region while carrying out firing tasks.
The day before, the defense agency reported about the disruption of the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region. As part of a mixed tactical group, Army aviation crews on Mi-28NM helicopters launched missiles at coordinates. As a result of the strike, armored vehicles and manpower of the Ukrainian army were destroyed.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
