The damage from the illegal dump in Balashikha was estimated at 34 million rubles

In Balashikha near Moscow, the amount of damage caused to the soil by a huge unauthorized dump has been established. Its amount amounts to 34 million rubles. Such data is given by the regional Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management.

Internet edition "Podmoskovye Segodnya" specifies that the dump was found on a plot of land in the category of "industrial land", not far from the Novsky quarter. Initially, the land was intended for the construction of a training center.

According to the expertise, the area of the dump was about 9 thousand square meters. m. The total volume of waste stored on its territory - more than 10 thousand cubic meters.

No exceedances of MPC and background concentrations were detected in the soil. The damage was caused by overlapping of humus layer of soil with wastes.

In early December it was reported that the regions, which do not eliminate landfills in time, will pay for the work at their own expense. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev. In accordance with the May decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin "On national goals and strategic objectives for the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024" in the country it is necessary to eliminate unauthorized dumps within the boundaries of cities. Their total number is 191, and work has already been completed on 158 dumps. The remaining 33 sites are located in 23 regions.
