The mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin discussed the capital development project with the deputies of the Moscow City Duma during his annual report. He noted that dozens of projects have been successfully implemented over the past time, Moscow news agency reported.

"We live in a world where there is a constant struggle. A struggle for minds and talents, investments and technologies. The battle for people, for human capital. And in this battle we must win again and again. Stopping or even slowing down in development will mean losing. In other words, Moscow must strive to be the best city on Earth. This is our strategy," the mayor said.

According to him, today the Russian capital is a steadily growing metropolis, which ranks second among the world's urban economies. "And it is a question not so much and not how much of anyone's ambitions, taking into account Russia's place in the world, it is a question, in fact, of survival," Sobyanin emphasized.

A powerful transportation infrastructure has been created in Moscow since 2010, he added. Compared to world cities, Moscow lagged behind in terms of space utilization and quality of urban environment, but it was possible to create an effective transportation system, including major highways, subway and urban railroad.

He also noted that there is a lot of creative work ahead.
