Russia has been conducting a special military operation to protect civilians in Donbas since February 24, 2022. You can track the progress of the joint troops of Russia, the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR), as well as see a map of military operations for December 25 in the Izvestiya piece.

According to the Defense Ministry, in the morning of this day the Russian Armed Forces (AF) launched a massive strike with long-range precision weapons and attack drones (UAVs) against critical facilities of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which support the military-industrial complex. The goal of the strike was achieved and all the facilities were hit, the ministry said.

At the same time, units of the Center group of forces liberated the settlement of Novy Trud in the DNR. The Russian army repelled 10 enemy counterattacks in this direction. There, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 550 servicemen, an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored personnel carrier, three vehicles, a 152-millimeter howitzer Msta-B, a 122-millimeter howitzer D-30 and a 105-millimeter gun M101 made in the USA.

In addition, units of the Dnepr group of forces improved their position along the front line by destroying two ammunition depots and a warehouse with military-technical equipment of the AFU.

The Russian army hit the infrastructure of military airfields, ammunition and drone depots, as well as accumulations of Ukrainian army manpower and military equipment in 146 areas.

Air defense means shot down five shells of the U.S. HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system and 119 aircraft-type UAVs.

In total, 650 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 38,539 drones, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 19,969 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,504 multiple rocket launchers, 19,991 field artillery and mortar guns, and 29,490 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation.
