Peskov explained the choice of the Igora complex to host the CIS summit

The Igora resort complex, which will host an informal meeting of leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and a summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), is unique. Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to show it to his guests, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Izvestia on December 25. The resort is located near St. Petersburg.
According to him, the Russian leader tries to show his colleagues different interesting places in Russia: both in the city and outside the city.
"The resort is really quite unique, comfortable. The president wanted to show it to his guests," Peskov said.
Also in conversation with journalists, he clarified that the CIS summit has no program, as it is informal. Leaders of the states will exchange views on topical issues. Such an event is held every year.
Earlier, on December 19, Artur Taymazov, a member of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, told Izvestia that the planned informal summit of CIS leaders and the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union have serious political weight. These meetings may raise issues of settlements in national currency, food security, defense of sovereignty and others, he specified.
