Russian flight attendant was on board the airliner that crashed in Kazakhstan

A flight attendant from the Russian Federation was on board the passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) that crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Wednesday, December 25, by the passenger's father.

According to the man, his son Ramin works in Moscow. In the morning he was supposed to return from Baku to the Russian capital via Grozny.

"There is no information yet. <...> I can't get through to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan for three hours," the man said.

In turn, the airline Ural Airlines confirmed in its Telegram-channel that among the passengers of the crashed flight was flight attendant Ramin Agayev.

"According to preliminary information, Ramin survived, but has not yet made contact," the Telegram channel says.

An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane traveling on the Baku-Grozny route crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau earlier in the day. After the crash the plane caught fire, the fire was extinguished.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident could have been a collision with a flock of birds. A criminal case under the article "Violation of safety rules in the operation of vehicles, causing the death of two or more persons by negligence" has been initiated on the fact of the crash.

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) told Izvestia that there were no organized groups of Russian tourists on board the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Aktau. Later, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported that, according to preliminary information, there were 16 Russians on board. December 25, Azerbaijan Airlines published a list of passengers of the plane crashed near Aktau. It lists 62 people.
