More than 500 innovative road signs have been installed in Moscow over 10 years. They warn drivers about accidents, works on the highway, bad weather, and road closures in the city, said Maxim Liksutov, the capital's deputy mayor for transportation and industry.

"Moscow is a region with some of the safest roads in Russia. This has been achieved largely due to the innovations in the transportation system that the Central Department of Transportation applies. An important innovation has become, for example, high-tech road scoreboards, they help drivers to avoid emergency situations," - said the Vice-Mayor.

According to him, for 10 years "more than 350 big screens around the city and 160 small ones on the Moscow Ring Road for emergency information" have been installed. "Road safety is one of the priority tasks set by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin," Liksutov emphasized.

Every day messages appear on the information road boards, which are transmitted by the employees of the situation center of the MCCA. For example, if there was an accident on the Moscow Ring Road, a car broke down, information about it is promptly published on the screen so that drivers reduce speed in advance. This helps to eliminate the risk of secondary accidents - this year their number on the Moscow ring road decreased by 17% compared to last year. Also on the scoreboard you can see recommendations to change summer tires, to wear seat belts and not to be distracted by the phone while driving.

In two years, according to Liksutov, the city has also replaced almost 40 outdated scoreboards with more modern ones, some of them duplicating the information of dismantled navigation boards, which created visual noise on the highways.
