Russian Consulate in Uralsk sets up crisis headquarters after plane crash

The Consulate General of Russia in the Kazakh city of Uralsk has formed a crisis headquarters after the airplane crash in Aktau. This is stated in the message of the Russian Embassy in Astana on December 25.

"Consulate General <...> in connection with the crash of the airplane "Azerbaijan Airlines", which was flying Baku - Grozny, promptly sends employees to the crash site in Aktau to ensure interaction with local authorities, relatives of the victims and victims," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the diplomatic mission.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, there were 67 people on board the crashed airplane, including five crew members.

"The number of injured is currently being ascertained. According to preliminary data, there are 28 survivors, including two children. Passenger lists are being clarified," the embassy added.

Thepreliminary cause of the crash was a collision with a flock of birds. The ATOR told "Izvestia" that there were no organized groups of Russian tourists on board the crashed liner. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, there were 16 Russian citizens in the plane. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan informed Izvestia about hospitalization of 25 people.
