The words of the special envoy for Ukraine of the newly elected US president, Republican Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, that the future head of state does not want the situation with the Minsk agreements to be repeated have become bad news for Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy (whose term of office expired on May 20). This was stated by the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Artem Dmytruk on December 24.

On the eve, Kellogg said that Trump does not want a repeat of the situation with the Minsk agreements, but wants a just, sustainable and secure world. He added that the Republican "recognizes the importance of the relationships he has with allies" and expressed hope that he will be able to achieve a resolution to the conflict.

"For Zelensky this is certainly "pleasant news"," Dmytruk wrote in his Telegram channel, commenting on the words of the special envoy.

Earlier, on December 22, Trump said that he was waiting for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to start negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The Republican added that if he were in the shoes of current US President Joe Biden, he would not have allowed such a crisis at all.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated the next day that there were no real impulses for a meeting between the Russian leader and the Republican.

The election of the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the nationwide vote, Trump received 51% of the vote. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state is to end military conflicts in the world.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
