Belgorod pensioner covers her grandson with her body during AFU attack

A pensioner in Belgorod Region has covered her grandson with her body during an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by the regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on December 25.

It is specified that the emergency occurred last year. The son of an elderly woman Mikhail then worked as a soccer coach. His mother covered her grandson with her body during the shelling and died. After the tragedy, Mikhail went to serve in the volunteer unit "Bars - Belgorod".

"We will always remember those who died in that terrible tragedy. And, of course, Mikhail is a model for all of us, a model of courage, responsibility for his family, for our homeland," Gladkov said in his video message published in his Telegram channel.

Earlier, on December 24, the AFU attacked two settlements in Belgorod region. As a result of the shelling, no one was injured. However, as a result of a drone detonation near a social facility in the building, windows were broken out, the facade and door were slashed.

On the same day, one person was injured as a result of an AFU attack on Belgorod region. A man with multiple shrapnel wounds to the face, forearms and legs was taken to hospital.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
