The FSB opened a case against two foreign journalists who infiltrated into Sudzha


Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Wednesday, December 25, that it has initiated and is investigating a criminal case against foreign journalists Simoni Traini and Stefani Battistini, who illegally crossed into the town of Suja, Kursk Region.
"A criminal case under part 3 of article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been initiated and is being investigated against foreign journalists Simoni Traini and Stefani Battistini, who illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation and carried out videotaping on the territory of the settlement of Suja, Kursk region," - reported in the press service of the agency.
In addition, the FSB is studying the materials disseminated in the media, from which it follows that the foreign correspondent Peyton Walsh entered the territory of the Russian checkpoint "Suja". These materials will be given a legal assessment, based on its results, the law enforcement agencies will make a procedural decision.
Earlier, December 4, the court arrested in absentia a journalist, a citizen of Germany, Nicholas Connolly, who illegally crossed the Russian border and entered Sujansky district of Kursk region to shoot a report. Connolly was charged under part 3 of Article 322 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation"). In that report, the journalist said that he arrived illegally in Sudzha on August 23 and spent several hours in the city.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on August 21 that the Russian Federation monitors every case of illegal entry of Western journalists into Russian territory. Zakharova reminded that foreign journalists have the right to visit the Russian Federation only if they receive accreditation from the ministry and the appropriate type of visa.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the AFU units invading the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
