A terrorist attack against the head of a defense enterprise was prevented in the Moscow region

A terrorist attack by Ukrainian special services against the head of a defense enterprise has been prevented in the Moscow Region. This was reported by the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on December 25.

It is specified that seven Russian citizens living in Moscow, Sverdlovsk regions and Perm Krai, three of them minors, were detained. Now they give confessions and cooperate with the investigation.

"As a result of the conducted activities seven Russian citizens were detained, <...> involved in the organization of surveillance of the parking place of the personal car of the object of terrorist aspirations, the manufacture of a homemade explosive device from components seized from the cache, and laying it under the specified car to carry out the explosion," - said the FSB, specifying that employees of the Ukrainian security services coordinated the activities of the attackers through messengers.

According to the Investigative Committee (IC), the Ukrainian special services were looking for people ready to kill one of the heads of the leading military machine building design bureau for a cash reward of at least 1 million rubles.

The attackers were detained at the moment of laying an explosive device.

A criminal case under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempt to commit a terrorist act as part of a group of persons by prior conspiracy") was initiated against the detainees.

The FSB also said that the detainees had previously helped Ukrainian phone scammers. They were engaged in the illegal installation and maintenance of equipment, which was used to organize communication channels, mass mailings of false terrorist threats and fraudulent calls to Russians with the subsequent withdrawal of funds obtained by criminal means.

Earlier, on December 12, officers of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) detained a man suspected of complicity in the commission of a theoretical act. The agency said that the detainee, on the instructions of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's GUR, seized a cache prepared by Ukrainian saboteurs, which contained components for the creation of an improvised explosive device (IED).

Ukrainian militants were planning to blow up a Russian Defense Ministry vehicle in this way. The terrorist act was prevented thanks to the professional work of operatives of the Russian FSSB.
