In the village of Kurumkan in Buryatia, an unextinguished cigarette could have caused a fire, in which two people died. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the republic on December 25.

"In Kurumkan a residential private house was burning. In the course of extinguishing and reconnaissance of the premises firefighters found the bodies of a 60-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man without signs of life", - stated in the message of the Department, published in the Telegram-channel.

The fire was liquidated.

As added in the agency, at the scene of the incident works inquirer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the preliminary version, the cause of the fire was carelessness in smoking.

Earlier, on December 24, 44-year-old grandmother and two grandchildren of five years and one year died in a fire in a two-storey private house in the Smolensk region. The mother of the children was hospitalized with injuries. According to preliminary data, the fire in the private house was caused by a short circuit in the wiring.
