On the territory of one of the military units of the Southern Military District a ceremony of transferring more than 200 units of weapons and military equipment to volunteers of BARS detachments performing combat missions in the zone of the special military operation was held. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 25.
Major General Alexander Tulyaganov, head of the GOMU department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, handed over to the BARS detachments the keys to high cross-country vehicles KamAZ, "Ural", motorized vehicles, and also handed over to the front line hardware complexes of suppression of control channels of drones, more than 40 sets of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) Thermal-Drone (UCO), as well as 120-millimeter mortars 2S12A "Sani" and other types of weapons and equipment.
"A lot of equipment comes, helps. Last year they also gave us and now, thank God, they are giving it to us. So the technique is very necessary, of course, to fulfill combat tasks, it is necessary," - said the commander of the unit with the call sign Dobryy.
In addition, there was a ceremony of awarding military ranks to the commanders of volunteer units.
After the ceremony, the personnel, together with new weapons and military equipment, headed to the zone of the SSO to fulfill the assigned tasks.
Earlier, on November 30, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of combat work of volunteers of the "BARS-Belgorod" formation at training ranges to reinforce roadblocks and protect socially important facilities in the Belgorod region. The volunteers have daily drills to repel drone attacks and attempts by a sabotage and reconnaissance group to break through a roadblock.
On September 12, Deputy Defense Minister Colonel-General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov announced the beginning of the formation of BARS units in Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions bordering Ukraine. He specified that the units together with law enforcement agencies under the conditions of counter-terrorist operation regime (CTO) will be engaged in the protection and defense of civil infrastructure facilities, fighting against drones and maintaining public order.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
