Russians to be allowed to choose their own repair station for CMTPL repairs

The head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (ARUI), Yevgeny Ufimtsev, said in an interview with Izvestia. He added: for example, the VSS wants a person to have the opportunity to choose a service station independently, even if the insurer does not have a contract with it.

"I think at the beginning of next year, we will already prepare proposals to change the law on CMTPL insurance and we will be able to start the process of amending the legislation. Then in 2025, Russians may already be allowed to choose the station for repair under CMTPL insurance," - said Ufimtsev.

In this case, part of the responsibilities will fall on the consumer, but it will increase the share of repairs under CMTPL insurance. These changes should be more clearly described, and the All-Union Insurance Association is preparing such proposals, he emphasized.

The Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance are standing up for the consumer's rights. We cannot allow stations, for example, to carry out poor quality repairs or deceive customers at all. VSS is now working with the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance on this, he concluded.
